I am thrilled that you have found your way here. I recognize the courage it takes to reach out for help and commend you for taking the first step. Life can take us to some unexpected places where we may find ourselves benefitting from a fresh perspective and an extra layer of support. As a counselor, I see my role as your partner, and I tailor my approach to meet each person where they are. My approach is integrative, drawing from cognitive behavioral, solution focused, family systems and attachment theories. I believe in the reciprocal relationship between our mind, body, and spirit, and recognize that when one area is impacted it affects our whole being. We will work together to address how each area of your life may have been impacted and the best path to restoring wholeness.
Each person comes to counseling with a unique set of needs and circumstances, and together, we will collaborate on your goals and the best course to achieve them. No doubt you have had many moments of strength and success which can be used in a new way for continued growth.
Prior to joining Living Water, I spent many years as a teacher of young children after which time I returned to school to obtain my master’s degree in counseling with a concentration in trauma. I have since gained experience working with individuals, families, and groups in an eating disorder treatment program, children and families, teens at risk for out of home placement, and college students within a college counseling center. I have worked in varying levels of care including home and school communities, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient.
My greatest experiences in working with clients of all ages has been to help individuals recognize and access their own strengths and to leverage their challenges as opportunities for growth. Having a strengths-based, client centered perspective allows me to hold space and believe in the clients I serve as they become empowered to believe in themselves.
