Meet Mary! (Welcome to our newest therapist! She is now taking new clients.)

I joined the Living Water Counseling team because I, like the rest of this team, see the value and role one’s faith and spirituality plays in our well being. I am open and available to explore these topics with you as per your comfort level. Whether you are struggling with external pressures from this crazy world or the internal angst from past pain, I applaud you for coming to this website and taking the courage to seek additional support. I look forward to meeting you and walking this journey with you!

Meet Laurie!

I am thrilled that you have found your way here. I recognize the courage it takes to reach out for help and commend you for taking the first step. Life can take us to some unexpected places where we may find ourselves benefitting from a fresh perspective and an extra layer of support. As a counselor, I see my role as your partner, and I tailor my approach to meet each person where they are. My approach is integrative, drawing from cognitive behavioral, solution focused, family systems and attachment theories. I believe in the reciprocal relationship between our mind, body, and spirit, and recognize that when one area is impacted it affects our whole being. We will work together to address how each area of your life may have been impacted and the best path to restoring wholeness.

Breathing Exercise:

In the midst of this pandemic, we all feel more anxious. We don’t know when it will be over and don’t know what will happen. As our minds try to handle the crisis, we desperately try to ‘figure it all out.’ I would encourage you to redirect your thoughts. Try to find rest in the knowledge that God is in control, even when things seem so very out of control.

I want to periodically post  ideas of helpful activities that you can do during this time to comfort yourselves, and to redirect your thoughts.

One of my clients made this beautiful Vision Board. She spent hours thinking about what to put on her board and the result is stunning! Try this on your own or with your family. Send me photos of your work when you are finished. I’d love to see what you have created. If you want me to post it on this site, I would happily do that.

Stay strong in your faith and hold firm.

Sending my prayers for you all.

For the Christian Hope is not “Pie in the sky by and by.” Hope is a present dynamic in our life. As the apostle Paul affirms, hope is the channel of God’s love poured into our hearts and lives through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. (Romans 5:5)

Hope is what keeps me going day by day. I first became aware of the power of hope as a teenager. From time to time I would make embarrassing mistakes. Instead of wallowing in shame, I found the Lord prodding me on with the promise, “you can do better; get over it.” And I did.

Through life I have met challenges with determination built on this experience of hope. As I have aged I have experienced the death of loved ones. I have lost two wives who have had cancer. The grief was staggering. But God’s love kept being poured out in my heart. God told me that he was with me every moment. That hope gave me the will and strength to carry on.

The practice of Evie Cunliffe, MA, NCC, LPC

Welcome to my practice. I am very glad that you have chosen to look over my website. I know that choosing a therapist is a very important step towards achieving your goals. The decision is so personal, that I want to give you some insight into who I am so that you can make an informed decision.

I have years of experience as a counselor, teacher, guidance counselor, mother of three grown children, and wife. I bring all of that experience and combine that with compassionate, active listening and trained counseling skills. I work with adults, teens and children, blending cognitive behavioral therapy, reflective listening and mindfulness training along with a Christian perspective. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues and relationship problems.

I find it a great joy to see God at work in my clients’ lives. Knowing the incredible depth of God’s love, I consistently see His love and mercy bringing healing through our counseling work.

It would be my privilege to walk with you through your challenge.

Evie Cunliffe
